Getting Organized

Let's start at the beginning, shall we?

I, Hakwood, am a gamer. A board gamer. A role-playing gamer. A video gamer. A card gamer. Bottom line, I love games. You get the idea.

But there are only so many hours in a day, and only so much free time a man has to devote to his hobbies. Gaming isn't the only thing I enjoy doing in my free time; I also love to read, write, watch films and TV, exercise, and pursue various other banal pasttimes. In addition, the large bulk of my free time is spent with my wife and daughter, who truly make my life worth living. Plus, I try to spend time developing my spiritual life (for which I have a totally separate blog!).

As you can see, I'm a busy man.

So the first thing I want to do is get organized. Put my gaming into categories and prioritize based on those categories.

Here are the categories:

1. Role-playing games (Dungeons & Dragons, GURPS, etc.)
2. Video games (console only--I hate computer games)
3. Classic games (Chess, Checkers, etc.)
4. Traditional card games (Poker, Hearts, etc.)
5. Alternative card games (Star Munchkin, etc.)
6. Board games (Attack!, Risk, Monopoly . . . you get the idea)

Looking over my gaming collection I see much chaff and little wheat. So a major cull will ensue. I am going to get rid of all the games that I will never play. Stay tuned.
